A few things about Terry...
What is your favorite lift/movement? My favorite lift is the Power Clean. If I could do them well, my favorite lift would be the Snatch. My favorite body weight movement is Pull Ups. What are your hobbies/interests? CrossFit has changed my life. I love my 5:30am crew - They motivate me to get out of bed at an ungodly hour, 5 days a week. I am so grateful to this gym for all that it has given me. It has only enhanced my life outside of the gym. I feel stronger mountain biking, hiking and even playing guitar. What advice would you give to a newbie joining CFV? You can choose your aches and pains in life. They will either be from the gym and sports and that feeling that you've done something with your body, or they will be a soreness that comes from doing nothing. You choose. Do not be intimidated by how hard it is. Just do your best and that is hard enough. And, ask questions. I would take advantage of all the coaching if you can. Sam has so much knowledge of Olympic Lifting and his encouraging ways inspire you to have integrity in your movements. Workout alongside Melissa and try to keep up. If you can get up early enough, go to one of Kevin's classes. His background and knowledge make him acutely aware of the struggles you may be going through to achieve your goals. And Coach Liz is incredible at picking out slight adjustments that can help you get that extra pull up or deeper squat. What are your future training goals? Life has changed my attitudes towards future goals. I am now 48 and I want to be able to ski like I always have, not get injured and increase my endurance. What were your thoughts after your first CFV workout? When I joined, I was a 42 year old woman in a class with 20 something year old men who were really strong. I was always the last one to complete the workout. My horror at the fact that they were cheering me on at the end of the workout quickly turned to motivation at the fact that I was being cheered on by these guys who genuinely wanted me to succeed. I tried harder because of it and I am grateful!
